Nordic Spinal Cord Society Congress 2011

At the recent NoSCoS congress held in Göteborg, Sweden one of the days was dedicated to the theme "What could be done"? The field "Hand Surgery" had a major exposure. In the morning there was a plenar session regarding reconstructive hand surgery focusing on an overview of Tetra Hand surgery, update on rehabilitation methods and outcomes, spasticity-reducing hand surgery and recent advance in tetrahand surgery . After lunch, the hand surgery theme continued in a workshop where three cases were discussed. Participants were able to talk with and examine patients who had undergone surgery and post-operative training, others who were relatively newly injured and not yet operated as well as one patient who just had had a triceps reconstruction. The session ended with a fruitful panel discussion among patients and caregivers. Next day included an open session in cooperation with European Spinal Cord Injured Federation (ESCIF) for interested. This well-attended session addressed "Hand Surgery - a way to increase independence".
