Open Forum at Swiss Paraplegic Centre (SPZ)

The Swiss Paraplegic Foundation recently arranged its annual open day at SPZ. Patients and their relatives met with the caregivers and everybody had ample opportunities to discuss technological advances, medical news, research projects and many, many other issues. The medical experts demonstrated and explained different treatment possibilities in multiple fields e.g., Tetrahand surgery. In addition, lectures of various topics were given. Representatives from Tetrahand team (Diana Sigrist-Nix and Jan Fridén, photo right) presented two posters about modern concepts in surgical reconstruction of hand function and also an update on scientific advances in this field. Patients and their loved-ones discussed hand problems and were curious to hear about what surgery could provide in terms of daily activities. This event is an important tool in the communication between people involved in various aspects of medical and other services to spinal cord injured persons.
