This patient underwent transfer of nerve motor branches to wrist extensor muscle nerves. Six months after surgery, extension of the thumb and fingers were almost full (see figure). In tetraplegic patients with strong wrist extensors, motor nerve branch transfer is a promising new alternative for the reconstruction of thumb and finger extension.
